try testing a london server stunt as you will probably connecting to a server there rather than a server in aberdeen also if your using the virgin router supplied dlink ditch it and get a linksys the dlink through put is crap it splits the connection to every device connected

The week they just set it up i was getting 50 mb but ever since then i don't seem to....upload is always right though! Hasn't really made much of a difference to my downloading really, i still tend to get speeds up to what 50 mb should be anyway.

Distance on Elfies = ~1000 Miles
Distance on yours = ~250 Miles.

It could be just high server load causing the high ping on speed test I normally ping our server @ 19ms - 26ms with 26hops enroute

so have any of you guys with over 6mbps tried optimizing yer lines?
it does help.(bt booster box customers best use there original line rating)
apps like tuneup utilities 2009/2010 will do is with little user input, all you need to know is what kind of line and what speed. it will setup yer i/o packet sizes to get the best out of yer lines.
other, better apps are available but tend to be more for peeps that know there apples.
(warning setting up your internet line wrong can cause problems if your unsure then read up or dont use the aplication)

it depends on what version of windows you use. xp and vista 2008/2009 are great.
but you have no option but to use the bloatware that is 2010 if you use win7. you can still use it, just un-install it after use. the settings will say optimized.
